Game #46 GameThread: Tigers @ Jays

May 18, 2025 by Blue Bird Banter

Kevin Sousa-Imagn Images This afternoon, let’s start with a lead and extend it as the game goes on. I did notice how hot Bo has been lately. Over the last two weeks, he’s hitting .320/.393/.600 with 3 home runs. If he can do that for a month or two, he’ll be rich. No Springer today. Santander moves down a couple of spots in the order. Kirk hits cleanup (much better … [Read more...] about Game #46 GameThread: Tigers @ Jays

Another One Run Loss

May 18, 2025 by Blue Bird Banter

Nick Turchiaro-Imagn Images Tigers 3 Blue Jays 2 One of those catch-up games. Another one that we could have won with a timely hit. José Berríos had a rough first inning, giving up a two-run double to Spencer Torkelson. After that, he had five good innings, giving up some baserunners, but keeping the Tigers off the board. He left after six innings, with eight hits, … [Read more...] about Another One Run Loss

Blue Jays Birthdays: Erik Hanson

May 18, 2025 by Blue Bird Banter

Erik Hanson turns 60 today. Sorry, Eric, it happens to the best of us. Hanson was the Mariners second-round pick of the 1986 draft. He made it to the majors in 1988 and spent six good seasons with the M’s with a 56-54 3.69 ERA in 145 games and 143 starts. Before the 1994 season, Seattle traded Hanson to the Reds. In the lockout-shortened year, Hanson had an ok season there … [Read more...] about Blue Jays Birthdays: Erik Hanson

Sunday Bantering: Jays Bits

May 18, 2025 by Blue Bird Banter

Kevin Sousa-Imagn Images Walk-off wins are the best. The Jays have come back to win 12 times this year. The Athletic has a story about how important it is to come back to win, that the team couldn’t do it last year, and that it is the mark of a good team. I think the mark of a good team is getting ahead early and lengthening the lead as the game progresses. I’d like … [Read more...] about Sunday Bantering: Jays Bits

Jays Walk-Off Tigers

May 18, 2025 by Blue Bird Banter

Photo by Vaughn Ridley/Getty Images Tiger 1 Blue Jays 2 The Jays didn’t do much on offense, scoring just a run in the eighth and the winning run in the ninth. In the eighth, Ernie Clement led off with a walk. Nathan Lukes bunted him to second. Alejandro Kirk, pinch-hitting, singled him home. Unfortunately, Michael Stefanic struck out, and Bo Bichette ground out. In … [Read more...] about Jays Walk-Off Tigers
