With it being reported that a reunion between Bo Bichette and the Toronto Blue Jays has become increasingly unlikely, the Philadelphia Phillies have emerged as a potential landing spot.
This should be considered the ideal scenario for the Blue Jays and their fans, with the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox all lurking as options.
Watching Bichette leave will be painful for everyone invested in Blue Jays baseball. He has been one of the faces of the franchise since debuting in 2019, making two All-Star teams while leading the American League in hits twice. He was on his way to doing it for a third time before a knee injury in September sent him to the sidelines for the final three weeks of the 2025 season.

Adding another proven star like Bichette would provide the Phillies with some extra firepower to take on the Dodgers. He’s exactly the kind of contact-oriented, right-handed bat they have desperately needed for several years. It’s a perfect fit.
The nightmare scenario for the Blue Jays and their fans is Bichette, 27, deciding to join those Dodgers on a short-term deal with opt-outs to help them complete their three-peat while proving himself as a second baseman. This outcome would only further the narrative that the Dodgers are ruining baseball and increase the likelihood of a lockout in 2027.
Of course, the Blue Jays and their fans wouldn’t be much happier to see Bichette donning Yankee pinstripes or Boston red. He’s an intense competitor who would surely make it his mission to terrorize Blue Jays pitchers for the remainder of his career. The fit in New York is awkward on paper, but the Red Sox have a clear spot for Bichette now that Alex Bregman reportedly spurned them to sign with the Chicago Cubs.
Saying goodbye to Bo Bichette won’t be easy, but signing a mega-contract with the Phillies is the best outcome for everyone if he doesn’t return to Toronto.
