
Yariel Rodríguez was signed in the winter before the 2024 season. He got a five-year, $32 million contract.
Last year was his rookie year, and it wasn’t terrible; his ERA was slightly worse than average, which is okay for a rookie year. He made 21 starts and only had one win out of that. But there was a lot of talk about whether he should be a starter or a reliever.
Well, he’s been good as a reliever, so that we won’t have that discussion ever again.

He’s been great at keeping guys from hitting the ball hard; he’s 90% for average exit velocity.
Yariel’s hard contact rate is the same as last year’s (27.5%), and his soft contact rate is a little better than last year (21.1% this year, 18.4% last year).
He’s been good against RHB (.170/.225/.330) and LHB (.185/.333/.352).
