Canadian outfield prospect Dasan Brown is headed to Buffalo.
Brown, a native of Oakville, Ont., was promoted to triple-A on Tuesday, per the Bisons’ announcement. The 23-year-old is now just one stop away from the big leagues, where he’d have the chance to become the 30th Canadian-born player to suit up for the Toronto Blue Jays.
The right-handed-hitting prospect has played 86 games at double-A New Hampshire this season, hitting a measly .175/.286/.249 with three home runs and 14 RBIs, accounting for a 65 wRC+ (100 league average). But he displayed his elite-level quickness, swiping 31 bases in 33 attempts.

Buffalo’s regular season concludes on Sep. 21, one week after New Hampshire plays its final game. As such, this move will provide Brown — who’ll be Rule 5-eligible this off-season — with an extra week of development with the Bisons in 2025.
Brown’s prospect stock has fallen considerably since his breakout 2022 campaign, where he slashed .283/.383/.420 and posted a career-high 133 wRC+ over 84 games split across three levels (complex league, single-A, high-A). The biggest issue has revolved around his offensive production, which has declined significantly against improved competition at double-A.
After hitting .257/.363/.411 with eight home runs in 74 games at high-A in 2024, Brown struggled to enjoy much success following a mid-season promotion to New Hampshire, finishing with a disappointing .217/.284/.302 slash line and zero home runs across 32 games.
At this point, Brown profiles as a fourth outfielder with 80-grade speed and a plus-defender, who’s spent most of this season in centre field, logging nearly 500 innings — only committing three errors with five outfield assists — at that position with the Fisher Cats.
The 2019 third-round selection isn’t starting for the Bisons on Tuesday, but he should be available off the bench if needed. He joins an outfield corps that currently includes fellow prospects Joey Loperfido, Jonatan Clase, RJ Schreck and Yohendrick Pinango.
