Blue Jays Prospect Yesavage Excelling with Dominant Form in High-A

June 3, 2025 by Last Word On Baseball

The Toronto Blue Jays’ No. 2 prospect according to MiLB Pipeline, Trey Yesavage has shown his dominance, earning him a promotion to High-A. In that time, he’s shown himself to be an exciting prospect who is inching closer to his MLB debut with the Blue Jays.

Unsurprisingly, the 21-year-old is making solid strides in climbing up the ladder in the Blue Jays system. He’s joined Arjun Nimmala in High-A and they are currently the team’s top two prospects who will be making their debuts in the big leagues within the next few years.

Blue Jays Prospect Trey Yesavage Lighting It Up Amid Promotion

Across Dunedin Single-A and High-A, Yesavage is sporting a 3-0 record with a 2.17 ERA across 45 2/3 innings with 79 strikeouts. Talk about impressive for such a young starter who is coming into his dominant form. His major league ETA is sometime in the 2026 season. His dominant pitching is making him a huge success story in the minors. However, even before his promotion, he showed himself to be the real deal.

His dominance demonstrates how the Blue Jays farm system compared to other teams is vastly underrated. It also includes guys such as Peyton Williams, aka “The Iowa Meat Truck” as well as Nimmala, and Yohendrick Pinango in Double-A. Pinango is tearing it up and could likely be getting a promotion this season as well.

Analyzing His Pitching Arsenal

Yesavage’s impressive pitching arsenal and physical build speak to the Blue Jays’ development program. He’s been recognized for his elite fastball that possesses a good carry, as well as his capability to effectively generate whiffs with his slider and splitter. His cannon of an arm and young age also add to his upside potential. His fastball can top at 95 mph when it is paired with a strong slider and splitter. The up-and-coming rookie is 6-foot-4, and 225 pounds.
His build gives him an intimidating mound presence and also indicates that he can take on a significant workload. When he is ready to pitch in the big leagues, Blue Jays fans will have all eyes on him. The Blue Jays need starters who can handle high-leverage workloads, which he is already showcasing. A Yesavage promotion was inevitable considering his solid pitching skills and tools.

The Last Word With Yesavage

Yesavage is projected to be called up to the big leagues next year. All in all, this will enhance their rotation, as Chris Bassitt and Max Scherzer will likely no longer be on the Blue Jays roster following free agency. They need an ace in their rotation, which is something they currently lack. Yesavage could be a young rookie ace and do a lot of damage in the rotation next season. It will be invigorating to see how he develops in the big leagues. Nonetheless, the hype with him is off the charts.
