Jays 2 Rangers 0
Bo Bichette, out of the lineup with a tight back, pinch hits in the top of the ninth and hits a home run. Ernie Clement started the inning with a single, and Nathan Lukes bunted him to second. Alejandro Kirk, also pinch-hitting, popped one to center, setting up Bo’s hero moment.
Before that, the usual Jays game, they got base runners but couldn’t score. In total we had eight hits and 3 walks. But, until Bo’s moment, we were 0 for 8 with RISP—a very normal game (except for Bo’s home run). Vlad and Barger had 2.
Here, I was talking about trading Bo earlier.
And the bullpen game went well for the Jays:
- Paxton Schultz went 2.2, allowing 1 hit (the only hit the Jays would allow), with 4 strikeouts.
- Eric Lauer threw the next 3.1, allowing just 2 walks with 4 strikeouts.
- Braydon Fisher went 1.1, allowing 1 walk with 2 K.
- Brendon Little (Braydon, Brendon) got the last two outs of the eight, on strikeouts. HE got the win.
- Jeff Hoffman had a quick ninth for save #12.
Jays of the Day: Bo (.448 WPA), Vlad (.106), Lauer (.211), Schultz (.140), and Fisher (.132).
Other Award: Santander (-.180, 0 for 4, k), Stefanic (-.188, 0 for 3), Clement (-.096), Varsho (-.093, 0 for 4, walk 3 k), and Kirk (-.092, 0 for 1).
So, amazingly, a series win. We score 4 runs in 3 games and win the series.
Tomorrow, the Jays are back at home to face the A’s.
