Happy Canada Day.
I’m grateful that my parents chose to immigrate here, even though I make a joke out of how they decided to move to the coldest place on earth. However, at the time, Antarctica wasn’t accepting immigrants, so they chose Edmonton, Alberta.
Many things amaze me about my parents’ choice of Edmonton. They didn’t know anyone there. They came there with $200. They got there in the winter, and my dad found a job out of town. He worked/lived there five days a week, and often would work weekends (overtime pay). My mom was in Edmonton, in the dead of winter, with my brother, who was 4 or 5 at the time, and she knew no one.
My dad said that she went back to England (her brother was getting married) with my brother, and he didn’t know if she would come back. But she did, thankfully, cause had she stayed, I wouldn’t be.
On the other hand, had they stayed in Newcastle (and somehow I was born anyway), I could be writing on the “Coming Home Newcastle” SB Nation site.
Anyway, I have been to England and I enjoyed my time there, but I’m so happy my parents chose Canada. I don’t think there is a better place to live.
It sounds like Bo isn’t going to be out of the lineup long:
Max Scherzer feels the same today as he did after his last start, Schneider says, which is good enough news. This will remain a start-to-start thing.
Bo Bichette is feeling better, too, so it doesn’t sound like he’ll miss much more time. #BlueJays
