With the holidays in the air, along with free agency and the winter meetings, the word “draft” doesn’t really exist. The one exception to this timely vocabulary pertains to the first edition of MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 for the 2026 MLB Draft.
We’re eight months away from the draft, and scouts are not attending workouts at the moment. That being said, it’s never too early to speak on draft prospects. MLB Pipeline released its new list for next year’s selections earlier this week, even though the order was just determined a few nights ago. The names on this list are intriguing, starting with Roch Cholowsky, leading into Grady Emerson, Justin Lebron and more.
With this newest Top 100 list, Canadian Sean Duncan finds himself being the lone name from North of the border, slotting in at #77.
Duncan’s performance has impressed big league scouts
Hailing from Port Coquitlam, British Columbia, Duncan is one of the most anticipated arms in all of Canada. The 2026 graduate is finishing up high school and plays for numerous teams across Canada, including the Langley Blaze and the Junior National Team, and has a commitment to Vanderbilt for post-secondary ball.

Duncan has shown extreme growth in his game, with valuable displays on the field and improvements in his pitch usage. He has gained considerable experience on the JNT, where he has played in numerous tournaments and won the MVP Award for 2024, and has been one of the team’s go-to pitchers in recent memory. Last October, he was part of the squad that travelled to the Dominican Republic to face pro bats, where he continued to dazzle on the mound with his command of the strike zone. He’s been opening eyes in the scouting world for years, executing fashionably in the Canadian Futures Showcase tournament in both 2024 and 2025, the Area Code Games this past summer, and the WWBA Championship in Jupiter, Florida.
Duncan flashes a three-pitch mix, led by a fastball, as well as a slider and changeup. He was originally living in the 92-93 mph range in 2024, but this year, he’s flashed up to 95 mph with more in the tank. His pitchability is his foundation; this is what has evaluators excited, as well as his plus changeup, which has been one of his go-to pitches to get swing and misses at the plate.
The left-hander will be one name to keep in mind next summer as he tries to improve his draft stock over the coming months. While British Columbia has some notable big leaguers to their credit, such as Brett Lawrie, Justin Morneau, and Jason Bay, Duncan is trying to be one of the top drafted pitchers from the province since Jeff Francis (ninth overall, 2002) and Adam Loewen (fourth overall, 2002), who ranks as the top drafted player in the Nation’s history.
