Game #107 GameThread: Jays @ Orioles

July 29, 2025 by Blue Bird Banter

MLB: Colorado Rockies at Baltimore Orioles

We have a 6:30 start time today, the first of four with the O’s, including a double-header tomorrow. But then we have an off-day on Thursday.

There are a couple of roster moves:

  • Will Wagner has been activated from the restricted list.
  • Alan Roden is back in Buffalo.
  • Bowden Francis moved to the 60-day IL.

And the Jays have a few guys ‘on the taxi squad’ with the team in Buffalo. Paxton Schultz (who is on the IL), Lazaro Esprada and Easton Lucas. With Tomorrow’s double-header, they will need something to start one of the games. Eric Lauer is starting the night game.

And there is a bit of injury news:

Alejandro Kirk is ‘doing better’, which doesn’t mean much since we don’t know how he was feeling yesterday.

Daulton Varsho is very likely to join the Jays on the weekend in Toronto.

Alek Manoah’s ‘sim game’ went well. Another undefined term. Apparently, he hit 95 on the radar gun.

Kendry Rojas was promoted to Buffalo. He had 30 k in 18.2 innings with the Fisher Cats.

Bryce Harper chased Rob Manfred out of the Phillies’ clubhouse, where Manfred wanted to sell the players on a salary cap. I’m hoping all teams do the same.

Mark DeRosa, who works for the MLB, told the Phillies that ‘Manfred could retaliate.’ How can he be that stupid? Threatening the team publicly? This is stuff you do quietly.

Another trade target relief is off the market.

Emmanuel Clase has been put on leave while the league investigates him for sports betting irregularities. It seems like a player making as much as he is would be smarter than that.
