The start of a series with the Royals, who are playing very good baseball.
Today we have Yusei Kikuchi (1-1, 2.08 in 21.2 innings) vs. Bradley Singer (2-0, 1.54 in 23.1 innings). We might have trouble scoring today. Singer was a second-round draft pick by the Jays in 2015, but they couldn’t agree on a signing bonus. The Royals took him in the first round in 2018.
There is some bad Jays’ news:
Blue Jays LHP prospect Brandon Barriera (elbow) is scheduled visit Dr. Keith Meister in Texas this week, per club
Barriera was Blue Jays’ first-round pick in 2022. He left his first start of the low-A season after 1.1 innings

And on Alek Manoah:
Alek Manoah isn’t directly tied to Yariel Rodríguez and his rotation spot.
Manoah will start again WED/THU, but the #BlueJays aren’t micromanaging Rodríguez’s innings yet and want to keep him rolling.
Schneider: “For now, we definitely want to keep him on turn where he’s at.”

You have likely seen this by now, and if it were anyone but the Yankees, I’d feel bad for them, but Aaron Boone got tossed from today’s game because a fan chirped Hunter Wendelstedt. It couldn’t happen to a better team, but then the league has to say something to Hunter, something like, ‘Don’t make the league look stupid for paying you.’
Unbelievable.
Aaron Boone was just ejected from the game after a fan in the front row heckled the umpire.
“I don’t care who said it. You’re gone”
Is this the worst ejection of all time?

If I’m an umpire, I’d eject random Yankees every day. Hunter had stuff to say about it:

Today’s lineups:
Go Jays. Go Leafs. Go all the Canadian NHL playoff teams.
