As we all guessed would happen, the Jays’ offence has returned, and all is good in Jaysland. Never again will we go for days without hitting a home run.
A few bits of news:
- Casey Lawrence cleared waivers and is a free agent. He’ll be looking for the next team that needs someone who can pitch a few innings at a time.
- Max Scherzer had a ‘heavy bullpen’. He’ll face line batters and then, with luck, go on a rehab assignment.
- Sounds like Kevin Gausman is go to go for tomorrow’s start. ‘I won’t have him throw 53 pitches in an inning again,’ says Schneider.
- In the ‘never use a small word when two big words can mean the same thing’, Ross Atkins says the team will consider external alternatives to build rotation depth. I think that Jake Bloss should be the next one to try.
Today’s lineup has Barger in RF again, Santander in LF and Springer as DH. Straw plays C with Varsho getting a day off, with the lefty on the mound. And Gimenez bats ninth (about time, I like him in that ninth spot, if he gets on, he can steal and set up the big bats).
