It’s been a post-season to remember for Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Ernie Clement, two of the Toronto Blue Jays’ brightest stars on this magical run to the World Series.
Guerrero has enjoyed one of the best all-time performances in playoff history, with his 255 wRC+ (100 league average) ranked third behind only 2002 Barry Bonds (259) and ’04 Carlos Beltrán (284). The $500-million superstar also owns eight home runs — the most ever in franchise history — placing two back of matching ’20 Randy Arozarena’s record-setting 10 in a single post-season.
Clement has been remarkable in his own right, slashing .391/.397/.531 with six extra-base hits — including one home run — and a 157 wRC+ across the club’s 16 post-season games.
Together, Guerrero and Clement have become the first duo of teammates in MLB history to each record 25 hits during a single playoff run, combining for 52 and accounting for nearly a third of Toronto’s 168 hits — which leads all post-season teams this month.

Guerrero, who’s racked up an MLB-leading 27 hits thus far, was the first to cross that 25-hit threshold in these playoffs. He’s also the first hitter ever to produce at least 25 hits, eight home runs and 15 RBIs in a single post-season.
Clement, meanwhile, earned his 25th hit amidst his 1-for-3 performance in Wednesday’s Game 5 6-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers, and came around to score via Isiah Kiner-Falefa’s eighth-inning RBI single.
With a maximum of two games remaining in this year’s Fall Classic, Toronto’s fan-favourite duo will likely finish as the lone hitters to record at least 25 hits this post-season. The next closest are Addison Barger and former Blue Jay Teoscar Hernández, both of whom are tied for third in this category with 18 apiece.
After winning two out of three at Dodger Stadium, the Blue Jays will return home for Friday’s Game 6 and have two chances to dethrone the reigning champions, seeking to capture their first World Series title in three-plus decades.
