Blue Jays 1 Yankees 5
Three hits, we got two hits. One was an Anthony Santander home run in the first inning (nice to see). George Springer and Vladimir Guerrero had the others, both singles.
The Yankees scored a run in the first, a leadoff home run by Trent Grisham. After that, Chris Bassitt kept them off the scoreboard until the sixth. Judge started the inning with a home run. After that, it went single, ground out, and double (Dominguez again, getting an RBI), which ended Bassitt’s day. Brendon Little gave up a single, and it was 4-1.
Yariel Rodriguez threw 1.1 innings without allowing a base runner. Chad Green gave up a home run in the eighth to J.C. Escarra.
Other than that, Bo Bichette made two throwing errors. A friend told me how much better his defense had been this season. I don’t know.
Tyler Heineman threw out Anthony Volpe trying to steal in the eighth—an excellent throw.
I don’t know if the team can’t score, I don’t see how we win. It is pretty simple: it is hard to win 1-0.
Jay of the Day: Santander (.102).
The Other Award: Gimenez (-.146, 0 for 3 k), and Bassitt (-..105).
Tomorrow is an off-day. Tom_m and I are going to have a drink or two tomorrow night. I think having a day off from watching this.
