The Jays made a roster move:
- Mason Fluharty has been called back up to the Jays. He was sent down on July 2nd.
- Robinson Piña has been sent down to Buffalo.
I had forgotten that Piña was on the team (and I think John had too). He’s only pitched for us once, back on July 7th, and it didn’t go well. With the way the bullpen has been used, having a player who hasn’t been used. I’m not a big fan of giving up on someone after one outing. I’m pretty sure we don’t have any pitchers who haven’t had one bad outing. But obviously, he’s lost John’s trust.
Fluharty was terrific for his first couple of months with the Jays but had a downturn in June, with a 9.82 ERA in his 11 innings in June. I’m hoping they figured out what his issues were in Buffalo.
