We all figured Paxton Schultz would get sent to Buffalo today, but, unfortunately, he’s going on the IL instead.
Paxton has right middle finger inflammation. He threw a bunch of pitches yesterday (40).
In his place is Justin Bruihl, a left-handed pitcher, whom the Jays signed as a free agent back in March. He was up earlier in the month and pitched in two games, for a total of 2.2 innings, allowing one hit, one walk, and four strikeouts with no earned runs.
In Buffalo, he has a 3.68 ERA. In 29.1 innings, he’s allowed 23 hits, 2 home runs, 12 walks and 37 strikeouts.
Today’s lineups. Vlad is back playing first base.
