The Jays made a roster move after today’s game:
- Paxton Schultz was sent to Buffalo. Schultz has a 3.24 ERA in 16.2 innings, with 4 walks and 21 strikeouts. I hate losing him off the roster. He’s been very useful.
- Spencer Turnbull is coming up to take his roster spot. Turnbull allowed 9 hits and 7 earned in 6.1 innings for the Bisons, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. I guess they couldn’t make a deal with him to stick around after his 35 days.
Turnbull 32, was good with the Phillies in 2024 with a 2.65 ERA in 54.1 innings. He pitched in 17 games, 7 starts. Batters hit .188/.279/.325 against him last year.
No word on what his role will be with the Jays. Likely, he’ll share a game with someone, in some form.
And there is Max Scherzer news:
Max Scherzer “was good” during a simulated game of 3 IP/50 pitches at Dunedin, said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Daulton Varsho played and homered. “Max will probably laugh about that,” he added.
Will throw a side on normal day at PDC “and then we’ll go from there.”

We may see him on a major league mound sometime this season (I’m trying to type that without laughing).
