The Jays traded for RHP Robinson Piña from the Marlins, sending minor league pitcher Colby Martin to Miami.
Martin was a 16th-round draft pick in 2024. He got noticed for throwing 102 this season. Between Vancouver and Dunedin, he had a 1.54 ERA in 23.1 innings, with 14 walks and 30 strikeouts. I was looking forward to seeing him in the Jays’ pen one day.

A second Floridian high school pitcher draftee, Guthrie is from right in their backyard less than 50 miles from Dunedin (at least as the crow flies). The 6’3”, 205 pound righty is committed to Florida Gulf Coast.
Piña is 26. He’s only pitched one inning in the majors. At Triple-A, he had a 3.47 ERA in 57 innings, with 15 walks and 54 strikeouts, mainly used as a starter. He’s been getting a lot of swing and miss in Triple-A.
From an MiLB scouting report:
He has an excellent fastball that gets up to 95 mph, a splitter with good depth, and a curveball that he likes to strike out hitters with. Pina’s best role looks to be out of the bullpen where the fastball will play up.
He could be a good addition to our pen, or even start if needed.
