Blue Jays 6 White Sox 1 (6 innings)
That’s ten in a row.
We only needed one inning today. In the top of the third, we scored five runs:
- Davis Schneider started it off with a home run (his fourth of the season).
- An out later, George Springer walked.
- Vladimir Guerrero doubled him home.
- Bo Bichette singled to give us runners on the corners.
- Addison Barger doubled in Vlad, giving us runners on second and third.
- Alejandro Kirk singled to add another run.
- Joey Loperfido ground into a force out t second, bringing home Barger. And it was 5-0.
We got one more in the sixth. Nathan Lukes started it with a double. Springer walked. Vlad singled to left, scoring Lukes. White Sox left fielder Austin Slater dropped the ball, and Vlad tried for second. It was called safe on the field, but overturned on review.
Chris Bassitt was excellent. He allowed four hits, one walk, and one strikeout. He allowed a Josh Rojas home run to lead off the sixth, but a solo home run when you are up by six is permitted.
In the top of the seventh, we started with singles from Kirk and Loperfido. Then, after a couple of outs, they called the game due to the pouring rain. It was bucketing down.
At that point, we had 12 hits. Springer, Vlad, Kirk and Loperfido had two each. Ernie Clement was the only starter without a hit.
Jays of the Day: Bassitt (.182 WPA) and Davis Schneider (.100).
No one gets the Other Award. The low mark was -.030 by Nathan Lukes.
Tomorrow, the Jays get a chance to tie the team record for consecutive wins at 11.
It is a day game, 2:00 Eastern. Eric Lauer (4-1, 2.65) vs Adrian Houser (4-2, 1.60).
