Easton Lucas, Lazaro Estrada Up. Justin Bruihl Down
It is going to be a hot one for the Jays and O’s today. 37°C and very humid. Pretty close to inhumane treatment to play in that.
The Jays say that Easton Lucas starts in game 1 of today’s double-header and that Lazaro Estrada will be the 27th man. Justin Bruihl was optioned to Buffalo.
Springer is ‘feeling better’. He isn’t in the lineup
If you thought the umpiring last night was bad, you were right:
Umpire Brian Walsh called the worst ball of the season.
Walsh seemed to think the pitch missed inside but it was less than a ball’s width from being dead center.
It would’ve needed to be an additional 9.5 inches inside for this to be the correct call.

Even with that call, the O’s had the best of the calls:

Along with Ken Rosenthal stating that the Jays are one of many teams inquiring about Steven Kwan (and with Clase suspended, the Guardians are more likely to be sellers), we have this:
The Blue Jays and Pirates have discussed trade possibilities that would involve a reliever going to Toronto, sources say.
David Bednar and Dennis Santana are Pittsburgh’s top bullpen trade candidates; both are eligible for free agency after ’26.@MLBNetwork @FAN590 @Sportsnet
