Tuesday Bantering: Springer to IL

There is news, just not the news we wanted to hear:

George Springer is going on the IL with a ‘sprained knee’ (maybe they just spelled ankle wrong?). They aren’t suggesting a timeline (maybe learning from his earlier injury).

We really need him to be back quickly. But it sounds like it won’t be just 10 days.

So that’s who Otto Lopez is replacing on the roster. He’ll be number 72.

Tomorrow Tim Mayza will be activated.

The Raptors, Leafs, and FC will all be requiring fans and employees to show proof of vaccination or a negative test.

No word that the Blue Jays will follow suit. I hope so. I’d imagine by doing it this way the teams will be allowed to run at full capacity.

I like it, my wife wanted to go to the Stampeder’s game last week, but they don’t ask for people to be vaccinated, and there are very narrow concourses at the ancient McMahon Stadium. With numbers climbing here, I wouldn’t be comfortable in a crowd at the moment.

Tonight is one of those stupid YouTube games. To watch go to YouTube.com and search MLB.

I’m not a fan of these things, but I guess I’m not the demographic they are going after.

The Jays signed a couple of undrafted players:

  • C/INF Andres Sosa, a 5-11, 210 lb. right-handed hitter from Hermosillo, Mexico, played at Dallas Baptist University.
  • C Nicolas Deschamps, a 5-11, 190 lb. left-handed hitter from Quebec City, QC, played last season for TNXL Academy in Florida.

This was mentioned in a GameThread, but Patrick Murphy was claimed off waivers by the Nationals. Also mentioned in a GameThread, Jays traded for Mallex Smith. He’ll be heading to Buffalo.

Oh boy, pitchers batting.
