Braves 1 Jays 3
Our pitchers were terrific today:
- Chris Bassitt: 5 innings, 3 hits, 2 walks and 10 strikeouts. He threw 90 pitches, but seemed to tired a bit in the fifth. He is a lot of fun to watch.
- Brendon Little: 1 inning, 1 walk, 3 strikeouts. I’m not 100% confident in Little, but games like this will help me to get there.
- Nick Sandlin: 0.2 innings, 1 hit, 1 k.
- Yimi Garcia: 1.1 inning, 4 strikeouts. He was amazing. I’m so glad the Jays picked him up again.
- Jeff Hoffman gave up an opposite-field home run to Drake Baldwin, but got out of the inning without too much trouble,
We didn’t do much on offense. Just 6 hit and 4 walks, but it was enough.
We scored:
- One in the third: Bo Bichette doubled and Vlad drove him home with a single. Vlad tried to steal second, later in the inning. He was called safe on the field but was ruled out on a challenge. It was close. I don’t know, Vlad shouldn’t be stealing, but it was very close.
- One in the sixth: Vlad hit his first home run.
- One in the seventh: Myles Straw walked with one out, and Bichette doubled him home. Vlad followed with a walk, but Anthony Santander hit into a double play.
Vlad had two hits and a walk, Bo had two hits. Santander and Kirk had the other hits.
Jays of the Day: Bassitt (.281) and Vlad (.140). Honourable mention to Little, Garcia and Hoffman. And Bo as well.
Other Award: Ernie Clement (-.097, for an 0 for 3, 2 k). He had a rough day at the plate.
Giménez had a very nice catch on a line drive in the ninth inning. Both Giménez and Straw stole a base.
Tomorrow is an off-day and then we have a weekend home series with the Mariners starting Friday.
