It would be a good day to win our 11th in a row.
There isn’t much news. There was a story that Chris Bassitt has offered to pitch in long relief, if needed, before the All-Star break. Since he only threw 78 pitches last night. The Jays have four games left before the break, with an off-day tomorrow, so Bassitt would be on regular rest for the last game before the break.
The starters for the rest of the first half:
Blue Jays @ Athletics probables:
Friday: Max Scherzer vs. Luis Severino
Saturday: Kevin Gausman vs. Jacob Lopez
Sunday: José Berríos vs. Jeffrey Springs— Ben Nicholson-Smith (@bnicholsonsmith) July 9, 2025

I think this is right. It is tough to get the bat going when you are a young player and getting into games sporadically. Davis is getting regular playing time and knowing he’ll continue to get regular playing time, even if he has an 0 for 4 day. He doesn’t have to go into every at bat thinking he has to homer.
Today’s lineup. I will point out Will Wagner in the fifth spot. He has a .247 slugging average (limited at-bats). I mean, that’s likely not a fair view of the player he is, but putting him in the middle of the order seems a mistake,
