A masked man who just took home some hardware is going to get a chance to skate with some of the game’s top players.
It was announced on Thursday that Austin Elliott, goaltender of the Memorial Cup champion London Knights, has been invited to the Toronto Maple Leafs training camp this fall.

Powered by Elliott and Leafs top prospect and tournament MVP Easton Cowan, the Knights captured the franchise’s third Memorial Cup this past weekend in Rimouski, beating Gavin McKenna and the Medicine Hat Tigers 4-1.
While players like Cowan, Denver Barkey and Sam Dickinson were the headlining stars, Elliott was the backbone that kept the team in some challenging games during the postseason.
After spending over three years with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League, Elliott was release, and was waived to join the Knights in the Ontario Hockey League.
The move paid off for London. The UMass-Lowell commit posted a ridiculous 32-1 record during the regular season, going 16-1 in the playoffs, helping the green and gold win the J. Ross Robertson Cup for the second year in a row. With a 2.10 goals-against average during the regular season, Elliott helped the Knights win the Dave Pinkney Trophy for having the lowest team GAA in the league.
In the Memorial Cup, Elliott was first-class, posting a 1.59 GAA and .943 SV%, going 4-1 on the way to the championship. In the final, the 21-year-old posted his best performance, making 31 saves against Medicine Hat. He was named to the tournament’s All-Star Team, as well as earned the honour of being the tournament’s top goaltender.
Elliott’s sharp incline to becoming a notable prospect leads many to hope he can help make Lowell a contender in the competitive Hockey East next season.
In the meantime, Elliott will focus on facing shooters like Auston Matthews and William Nylander this September. This won’t be the Alberta native’s first time skating in a Leafs uniform. He participated in Toronto’s development camp in 2023.
