Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan named to CHL’s 3rd All-Star team

June 21, 2025 by The Leafs Nation

Toronto Maple Leafs top prospect Easton Cowan was named to the CHL’s third all-star team after an outstanding season with the London Knights.

Cowan helped the Knights win a second consecutive OHL championship, before going on to capture the Memorial Cup. The 20-year-old was named Memorial Cup MVP after posting three goals and seven points during the tournament.

During the regular season, Cowan recorded 29 goals and 69 points in 46 games, before posting 13 goals and 39 points in 17 playoff games. Cowan was previously named to the OHL’s second all-star team this season. Cowan’s teammate with the Knights, Sam Dickinson, was named to the CHL’s first all-star team, while Knights goaltender Austin Elliott was named to the second team.

Cowan recently joined Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill on Leafs Morning Take, where he outlined the next steps for his career.

“Every kid in my situation would probably say to make the NHL, and that’s definitely my goal,” Cowan said to Alberga and Rosehill. “I mean, I feel like I’m capable of doing that. I just got to keep getting bigger, keep getting faster, and keep getting stronger. It’s just in my hands. I feel like I’m smart enough and able to play, but obviously, I got to get bigger and that’s just in my hands. I’ll take advantage of that this summer, training in London, training a bit in Toronto too. It’ll help me out a lot and I’m just super excited for camp, and I’ll be ready for it for sure.”

Cowan will be afforded every chance to make the Maple Leafs’ roster this fall, while playing on his entry-level contract, where his speed, tenacity and defensive responsibility will be key assets. He has listed Mitch Marner as a role model, and could perhaps become the next Knights star to make a major impact for the Maple Leafs at the NHL level, although it’s entirely possible he’s deployed in a third-line role next season.
