We’re just two sleeps away from the start of the Stanley Cup Final.
Furthermore, it’s June, which means July 1st is now just 29 short days away.
Business is about to pick up in the NHL. A month from now, the Leafs may look drastically different.
At any rate, we kicked off the Monday edition of Leafs Morning Take by giving some thoughts on the Florida/Edmonton rematch. Will the Panthers repeat, or has Connor McDavid’s time finally come? Both teams might be even stronger than they were a year ago. Edmonton possesses eight players with at least five goals. Meantime, Florida has eight different guys with at least four guys. Talk about a team approach!
All in all, we spent a good chunk of the show discussing Easton Cowan’s accomplishments. On Sunday, Toronto’s 2023 first rounder and his London Knights won their third Memorial Cup in franchise history dusting off Medicine Hat. Cowan, who led the tournament with seven points, took home MVP honours. What a way to finish to your CHL career. Naturally, we discussed his next career steps. It will be either the Maple Leafs or the Marlies.
After that, we discussed the latest rumours making the rounds in Leafs Nation. According to David Pagnotta, Mitch Marner has not closed the door on the Leafs. That said, he reportedly has put together a list of seven or eight teams that he’s looking at —including Vegas and Los Angeles. Additionally, we expect Carolina to be involved in the bidding process, too. Also, we debated some potential buyout candidates. Ryan Reaves, David Kampf, and Calle Jarnkrok, among others, are definite possibilities.
Lastly, for the CRISPI HOT TAKE OF THE DAY, presented by the Ninja Crispi 4-in-1 Portable Glass Air Fryer, Producer Vick thinks that even though the Leafs are done, it’s sacrilegious to cheer for another Canadian team a.k.a the Edmonton Oilers.
