Tight on the heels of the Development Camp, the prospects go to Michigan.
Traverse City is hosting their prospect tournament for the first time since 2019, the first year the Leafs participated. The event begins on Thursday, September 16 and runs to September 20. The Red Wings host their NHL training camp in the same place, so they will move in on September 22, as the prospects disperse. The Maple Leafs training camp should begin within a few days of the 20th as well.
The tournament is cut down in size this year, with only five teams. Joining the hosts along with the Leafs are the Columbus Blue Jackets, the St. Louis Blues and the Dallas Stars. The schedule is a little quirky, as each team plays three others, and St. Louis and Detroit only play three games, while everyone else plays four. The event has been confined to a single rink for most of the games at the Centre Ice Complex in Traverse City.
It is expected all games will be streamed at the Detroit Red Wings site.
The roster has just been announced, with a lot of the Development Camp attendees sent off to their junior teams.
