A Raptor is the Newest NBA Player to Join the Curry Brand

February 4, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Davion Mitchell recently signed with Curry Brand.

A Toronto Raptor has just been announced as the newest NBA player to join Stephen Curry’s shoe brand. Davion Mitchell has signed a multi-year deal to represent the Curry Brand on and off the court. Mitchell will also be receiving his own exclusive shoes as part of the deal. Mitchell joins a roster of NBA, College, and G league players representing the Curry Brand.

The Kings Connections

Mitchell credited former teammate De’Aaron Fox with introducing him to the Curry Brand and advantages of the shoes. Fox signed with the brand in 2023 and released his first signature shoe last November. The two spent Mitchell’s first three seasons in the league together in Sacramento where they developed a strong friendship. That friendship has carried over to business, with the two being the premier athletes of the Curry brand. Fox shared in his friend’s excitement that the two were now teaming up as part of a new family, the Curry Brand. Adding to the pair’s relationship, Mitchell has been spotted wearing the Fox 1 throughout this NBA season. Since joining the brand, Mitchell is set to get his own Fox 1 PEs later this season.

Stephen Curry Loves Davion Mitchell

When Curry started his brand in 2020, he had a vision for the type of athletes who would be part of it. Now, in 2025, Curry has built a roster of like-minded athletes, with Mitchell being the latest addition. Curry made sure to mention Mitchell’s passion and drive on the court and his work helping his community off it as reasons why he is proud to have Mitchell join the Curry Brand. Mitchell also praised Curry, calling him one of the best PGs ever and mentioning the brand as a new family he’s gained.

A Perfectly Timed Announcement

The Curry Brand has perfectly timed its newest athlete announcement. Mitchell is playing his best basketball of the season over the last stretch of games. Mitchell averaged 7.9 points, five assists, and 1.8 rebounds in the previous eight games while shooting 53.2% overall and 52.4% from deep. Compared to the first 35 games, where Mitchell averaged 5.9 points while shooting 40.1% overall and 31.9% from deep—the difference is night and day. His improved play has directly led to the Raptors’ best stretch of the season, including a five-game win streak where Mitchell started in all of them. Beyond his stats, Mitchell has also helped turn the Raptors into a defensive juggernaut over this stretch with the second-best DRTG since January 15th. His point-of-attack defense has been excellent, and his defensive communication seems to have stepped up.

It’s unclear if Mitchell has a long-term future with the Raptors. Immanuel Quickley is the team’s starting point guard, and Jamal Shead is duking it out with him for the backup minutes. However, Mitchell’s recent play has made the conversation around his future in Toronto a lot more complicated. He already does so much at a high level, and with his shot failing, there is not much to dislike. With the trade deadline closing in Mitchell’s future should be clearer soon.
