Hornets legend Muggsy Bogues didn’t let being 5-foot-3 stop him from enjoying a highly-productive 14 years in the NBA. And he believes 5’8″ Markquis Nowell can have a similar impact in the league.
After signing as an undrafted free agent with the Toronto Raptors, Muggsy had an uplifting message for the former K-State star.
Tweeting, “[Yessir!] I know someone who played for the Raptors once upon a time. #heartoverheight.”

Fans were loving it on social media.
“Kansas State has continued the road of under size success proving its not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the heart the work the dedication,” a user said. “All 3 are former D-1 top athletes under 5’8.”

“The story of the Toronto Raptors can not be told without acknowledging how much they love to have a good short king running point,” another person commented.

“Real,” a fan tweeted. “We’re cheering for you [Markquis Nowell].”
Nowell rose to national prominence as the Wildcats floor general in the NCAA Tournament where he put up four straight incredible performances on the way to the Elite 8.
