NBA World Reacts To The News About Toronto, Canada

Unvaccinated NBA players will need to be extremely careful this upcoming season when they travel on the road to face the Toronto Raptors.

On Wednesday night, Shams Charania of The Athletic shared significant news involving the 2021-22 NBA season and Canada’s Quarantine Act. Any unvaccinated player who does not follow Canada’s rules will be subject to strict penalties, which includes possibly facing six months in prison.

“NBA players were informed unvaccinated players who breach quarantine in Toronto face criminal offense,” Charania said. “Unvaccinated players only able to leave hotel for team activities. Per Canada’s Quarantine Act, violations could lead to up to 6 months in prison and/or $750K in fines.”

As you’d expect, NBA fans are a bit surprised by these strict rules. In fact, there are plenty of people who believe Canada’s Quarantine Act is a tad extreme.

The NBA has been trying to increase its vaccination rate as much as possible, but there will still be some players around the league who refuse to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving is currently the most notable player who’s unvaccinated.

Since the current rules in Canada are very strict, the entire Toronto Raptors team is fully vaccinated.

Hopefully, there’s no groundbreaking story that comes out this season about unvaccinated players putting themselves in a tricky situation while visiting Toronto.
