OG Anunoby, Khem Birch and Precious Achiuwa have missed significant time this season due to injuries. Coach Nick Nurse stated this afternoon that all three have a chance to return to the lineup as soon as this weekend.
Fans are no stranger to the waxing injuries that have plagued the Toronto Raptors roster this season. Following Friday’s press conference, however, we may be treated with a healthy lineup as soon as Saturday’s game against the Warriors.
Nurse stated that OG Anunoby and Khem Birch ‘looked good’ in practice, however the ever-cautious coach wants to give it another shootaround before the game to ‘see how they feel’ before offering a committal “yes.” And energetic big Precious Achiuwa was apparently all over the gym.
Right off the bat, Nurse — without saying they would play — said the trio looked in game shape. While he did say they would officially be ‘questionable,’ it’s an exciting bit of news to hear heading into the new year.
Here’s the full run down with coach:
“Of the three — OG, Khem and Precious — I thought OG and Khem looked like they were pretty good and in rhythm somewhat and not too affected; Precious was full of energy, flying all over the place, so we shall see.”
The team’s official core of Scottie Barnes, Fred VanVleet, OG Anunoby and Pascal Siakam have only appeared in 4 games together this season. Get ready for some fun basketball!
