Blue Jays: Gage Stanifer and three others named to the Northwest League All-Star team

September 18, 2025 by Blue Jays Nation

Several Toronto Blue Jays prospects have made the Northwest League All-Star Team.

According to the MiLB Twitter account, third baseman Cutter Coffey, starting pitchers Gage Stanifer and Fernando Perez, and relief pitcher Chay Yeager are league All-Stars.

For the first time since 2021, the High-A Vancouver Canadians failed to make the Northwest League Championship series, as they finished tied for first in the first half, but lost out in a tiebreaker. In the second half, they finished 11 games behind the Eugene Emeralds. Their 75-57 record was the second-best in the league overall.

Coffey, Stanifer, Perez, and Yeager were all key contributors. One of three players acquired in last season’s Danny Jansen trade, Coffey slashed .273/.359/.427 with 11 home runs in 440 plate appearances for a 118 wRC+. Among players with 300 or more plate appearances on the Canadians, Coffey’s 118 wRC+ ranked tied for third, behind Victor Arias (128 wRC+) and Eddie Micheletti Jr. (124 wRC+).

Stanifer’s dominance in the 2025 season is well documented. Drafted in the 19th round of the 2022 draft, the 21-year-old broke out in 2025, posting an incredible 0.69 ERA and 2.24 FIP in seven outings, piggybacking off Trey Yesavage until they were both promoted to the Canadians.

Yesavage only made four starts in Vancouver, but Stanifer spent the majority of the season with the Canadians, authoring a 3.20 ERA and 2.30 FIP in 76 innings pitched, with a 36.5 K% and 11.7 BB%. Stanifer pitched his final two starts in Double-A and finished the season in the top 10 for strikeouts.

Perez signed in the 2022 International Free Agency and had two solid seasons under his belt entering the 2025 season. With the Canadians, he finished with a 3.05 ERA and 3.19 FIP in 94.1 innings pitched, with a 21.8 K% and 4.9 BB%. From June 14th until August 9th, Perez posted a 1.51 ERA and 2.15 FIP in a nine-game stretch, with a 25.7 K% and 2.7 BB% to earn a promotion to Double-A.

Lastly, Yeager was drafted in the 12th round of the 2023 draft and had a rough season in 2024, spent entirely in High-A. The 23-year-old began the 2025 season in High-A, authoring a 1.77 ERA and 2.66 FIP in 35.2 innings pitched, with a 31.9 K% and 9.6 BB%. Upon his promotion to Double-A, Yeager had a 4.50 ERA and 4.84 FIP in 20 innings pitched. His season isn’t over yet, as he’s one of a handful of Blue Jays prospects heading to the Arizona Fall League.
